In November 2025 Buck Memorial Library joined the Sustainable Libraries Initiative in an effort to be more environmentally sound, socially equitable and economically feasible. Along with 18 other Maine libraries (see the full list *here*) we will address ways to become more sustainable and develop a plan for the future.
The Buck Memorial Library was built in 1887 on Bucksport's Main Street. The library serves the towns of Bucksport, Orland and Verona Island in addition to surrounding communities.
Come visit us!
The Buck Memorial Library benefits all patrons with a physical and digital collection of materials, programs and space, to learn and grow. We strive to be attentive to the needs of our community and be responsive to the ever-changing landscape of knowledge and how it is acquired. We believe there should be no financial barriers to anyone using a library, therefore we are fine-free. We are committed to serving all who walk through our doors.
